Dr. Reginald Calvert

Dr. Reginald W. Calvert serves as pastor of the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Bessemer where he has served since 1999.  Dr. Calvert is a graduate of Beeson Divinity School of Samford University in Birmingham where he earned the Doctor of Ministry Degree and where he obtained the Master of Divinity degree. He also is a graduate of the Birmingham Easonian Baptist Bible College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Pastoral Program and where he was honored with the Doctor of Divinity degree.  In 2009, he was chosen by the dean and the faculty of Beeson as the M.Div. Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

            In addition, Dr. Calvert serves as an Adjunct Professor of Christian Studies at Anderson University, Anderson, South Carolina; Graduate Faculty Member of the Huntsville Bible College; Preaching Peer Group Facilitator (Preaching in the African American Tradition) at Beeson Divinity School, Samford University; and Dean of the Mount Pilgrim District Congress of Christian Education. He also has lectured and preached for conferences of the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., the New Era Progressive Missionary Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Rev. Calvert is married to Karla McPherson Calvert, Esq., and they have two adult daughters, Courtney and Kaylin.
